Volunteer to be an Election Poll Worker and help

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc.

Here is a unique volunteer opportunity to perform your civic duty and help raise money for our agency at the same time! We have teamed up with the Supervisor of Elections Office in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. They're recruiting people to work at the Primary and General Election--and funds will be earmarked for our agency.

Here are the requirements:

  • Be a registered voter of Hillsborough County or Pasco County
  • Be available to work a 14 -hour day (reporting for duty at 6am) for the Primary Election  (August 24) and General Election (November 2)
  • Must attend training or complete on-line training (2-4 hour training to be scheduled in June/ July; more information to come)
  • Be able to lift approximately 15 lbs and endure long periods of standing and sitting
  • Agree to assign your stipend to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc.
  • Every attempt will be made to assign you to a polling place that is convenient for you
  • Once you are at the polling site, you can not leave (bring food/medicines, etc. for the entire day)
  • BBBS will be paid from $140 to $220 per person, per day depending on job duties
  • By providing volunteers, we bring in critically needed unrestricted funds to our agency. For example if we provide 10 poll workers earning $140 each for both elections, we could earn $2,800!

What's in it for you:

  • Get a behind-the-scenes look at the political process!
  • Wear your BBBS t-shirt and share your passion with others at the polling site!
  • Know that you'll be helping your community--and our agency--at the same time!

If you live in Pasco County, contact De Anna Sheffield Ward, deanna.sheffield@bbbs.org or 813.769.3604; if you live in Hillsborough County, please fill out the completed form and turn in to De Anna by May 28th., 711 S.
