OUR PRIVACY POLICY

Your Personal Information is Held in Strict Confidence.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay,  Inc. (Big Brothers Big Sisters) requires that your personal information be held in strict confidence,  whether you are a donor, a volunteer, a sponsor, or a corporate or other community partner.  We use your information only for its intended business purposes--we do not sell or trade your information with other organizations or individuals. 

We Protect Your Information.  Big Brothers Big Sisters employs policies, procedures, and technology to protect the security and confidentiality of your personal information.  Within our organization, access to confidential information is limited to those who need it to perform their jobs for the benefit of Big Brothers Big Sisters,  including on occasion key, trusted volunteers such as board members.  We have physical security in our building, restricted access and require passwords to protect our network, applications, files, and databases, and we maintain state of the art virus detection software.

We allow access to your information to auditors and other third parties only as mandated by regulatory requirements.  We ask  that you let us know if you don't want us to publish your name regarding your contribution. 

Our privacy promise extends on-line to our website.  On-line donations and event registration information are transmitted via a secure server using the latest encryption technology.  Some on-line forms on our website are created with third party software that deploys the latest encryption technology. 

If you choose to send us e-mail, we may retain the contents of your e-mail message, our reply, and your e-mail address as part of our on-going stewardship efforts and for the benefit of our own volunteer recruitment and fund development efforts.  We reserve the right to contact you after you have contacted us and may send future e-mail and/or surveys to you about Big Brothers Big Sisters.   You may notify us via e-mail if you wish to discontinue electronic communication. 

Accurate Records and Your Access to Your Personal Information.   We keep your personal information as accurate, complete, and up to date as is required to fulfill the purpose(s) for which you provided us with your personal information.  Upon request you have the right to see the financial information we collect and manage about you. A print-out of such financial information will be sent to you after appropriate steps have been taken to verify your identity.  Please allow us sufficient time to fulfill such requests.  A handling fee will normally apply for such requests.   We do not however, provide to you any information regarding you as a volunteer or regarding your match other than to confirm the existence of your match.

Upon request in writing we will remove your personal financial information from our databases, except where applicable law or regulation requires our retention of it (for example, charitable giving history tied to income tax receipts.)
