 Start Something!

Become a volunteer. We're looking for committed and dedicated men, women and couples who want to make a difference in the life of a child (Little). Volunteers (Bigs) spend a few hours a month doing simple things with their Little: going to the library, enjoying a ball game, just hanging out and we encourage Bigs to stay matched at least for one year. For more information call (813) 769-3630 or e-mail tampabay.info@bbbsfl.org.

   A Real "Reunite Now!" Reunion

Former Little Brother Chris Allen, left, and former Big Brother Harry McAlister shared a few laughs after seeing each other for the first time in 40 years during a recent Bowl For Kids' Sake event in Tampa. It all started when Chris saw a Big Brothers Big Sisters TV ad earlier this year and decided to find the man who helped turn his life around when he was 18 and fresh out of jail for stealing. Harry, then a single man working in communications for MacDill Air Force Base, introduced Chris to electronics and helped him enroll in Tampa Technical Institute. Chris grabbed hold of the possibilities and has worked in the electronics industry ever since. He gave Harry a watch during the reunion ceremony and they reminisced about old times as reporters and photographers from local news outlets asked questions and snapped photos.

In recent weeks, their story has inspired other former Bigs and Littles to reconnect with our agency and to wonder about their former Matches. What about you? Have you lost touch with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay? We'd love to reunite with you and make you a part of our new Alumni Club! For more information, contact De Anna Sheffield Ward at deanna.ward@bbbsfl.org or at (813) 769-3604.

David Price and Little Brothers

As our annual Bowl For Kids' Sake campaign got under way, Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher David Price  took the lead in the FUN-Raiser by visiting with Little Brothers, tweeting about his experiences, and hosting a VIP party March 29th for those who raised $1,000 or more.

There's still time to help the children in our community through upcoming bowling events in Pasco and Polk counties. So click here and join the effort as a bowling captain, to join a team, or make a donation. When you click on the link, you'll see the dates and locations for community bowling parties. Raise at least $50 to join us as a bowler. We also set up private bowling events for companies and groups who want to host their own Bowl for Kids' Sake event. Talk to Amy Hollington for more information: (813) 769-3636 or amy.hollington@bbbsfl.org.
